A prayer of perseverance for times when you have been suffering, struggling, and feel weary or worn out
Lord, thank you for wearing the crown of thorns for us, for being scourged for us, for enduring people mocking you, for enduring your disciples abandoning you, for enduring seeing the nation of Israel that you reared up turned against you, for enduring the injustice of your unfair trial, for enduring the pain and shame of the cross, and for everything else you endured for us.
Therefore, if we need to endure this trouble in our family or this trouble at work or this trouble at school or this trouble with our health or this loneliness or this emotional pain or any other troubles or kinds of suffering, let us do it for you and let us to do it for the souls you can help through us in this world. Let us keep enduring and fighting the good fight of faith and let us act with wisdom as we do.
You persevered and did God the Father’s will in spite of everything you suffered during your life on earth and everything you suffered on good Friday. You were looking ahead to the way things would be after all this suffering and after all this pain. You held to the will of God the Father and did not let go for an instant. You were looking at the joy set before you, the joy that would come after the pain. You taught us about hope, you taught us about never giving up, you taught us about being faithful even while being under so much pressure and even being faithful unto death. Surely, you will reward us for holding unto the will of God the Father in our own lives even when you know it’s so hard for us.
Give us the strength to do this, fill us with hope that things will get better, guide us by the Holy Spirit so we know how to overcome all our problems, help our hearts to be joyful and not weighed down by discouragement and sadness, so we know how to do God the Father’s will and live in victory while we are still in this world. Help us to praise you, thank you, love you, and trust you even as we face all these things. Help us through it all, every step of the way and show us the glory of God and crush Satan under our feet.
Lord Jesus we love you, we humble ourselves before you, we believe in you, and we trust you. We may not understand everything, but you do, and surely you are willing and able to help us no matter what. No matter how bad it looks right now, let us have faith in you to help us overcome. Nothing is more important than our faith in you and the eternal life we have through that faith so let us hold unto it with the strength you give us no matter what. Let us start to see how you are helping us, how you show your love for us during our struggle, and that you are with us and we are not alone.
Our suffering will not go on forever…
Lord, give us hope, give us strength, make us strong, firm, and steadfast. No matter how sad we might feel right now, let us become joyful and let the joy of the Lord be our strength and let us no longer feel sad or discouraged. Lord, thank you for doing all this in Jesus name-though we may not feel the answer to this prayer at this moment we will soon. Glory, praise and honor be to your name forever.
*(You can read this and pray this prayer many times if you want until your heart and faith are stirred. You can also get advice from the Bible, good Pastors, good Christian books, sermons, from fellowship with Christians who have good character, from the Holy Spirit, and in other God approved ways. Jesus loves you and since Jesus is within believers many of them would love you too)
*One day I made the mistake of starting to complain against God about the things I have endured and things I was going through and then I realized that if I keep complaining I will be shaded in darkness and things will be worse. I just stopped complaining and tried to keep doing God’s will and after a while things were much better. I think we can talk to God about our problems, but we should do our best to avoid complaining against Him while doing so…we will still be in His grace and can still have His mercy even if we complain, but we are better off spiritually if we don’t complain and complaining is counter productive and God still asks that we trust Him even during these extremely tough times. It’s harder for some than for others-God understands that. Jesus knows what is it to suffer. The prophets suffered during Old Testament times even though God loved them. The Apostles suffered even though God loved them and Jesus absolutely suffered even though the Father loves Him so much. It’s part of our life as human beings, as individuals that ended up where we are in life, and as Christians whom the world is spiritually against. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” Jesus was able to accomplish the will of God the Father while he was in the world in spite of all the persecution, mistreatment, misunderstandings, oppression, injustice, pain, suffering, sorrow, pain and shame of the cross, and the oppression of every kind that was against Him. He came into the world, taught the truth and spread it, healed the sick and drove out demons, made atonement for the sins of all mankind, rose from the dead, instructed the Church to spread His gospel and promised that the gates of hades would not prevail against it, and He ascended to the right hand of God in heaven. He did everything that He set out to do and no one could stop Him. He came in humility, and yet He always had victory. He was not overpowered, He let Himself be crucified for our sake (Matthew 26:53, John 10:17-18). People and the devil tried to stop Him throughout His life, but they could not. Let us therefore be closer to Jesus and God’s words because our victory is in Jesus. If you fell on your face hard for the 500th time, get up, pray and fight again! Get knocked down, get back up again!
